Licensed Practical Nurse - Operating Room
UPMC Northwest Hospital Seneca, PA Operating Room Flex Full Time As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at UPMC, you’ll play a hands-on role in delivering excellent patient care. From focused assessments to IV therapy (where applicable), you’ll put your skills to work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or licensed provider. Thrive in a fast-paced, supportive environment where seasoned teammates value teamwork and set you up for success. **Responsibilities:** + Collaborate with RNs and health care team members, seeking guidance when patient needs exceed LPN scope of practice, skill, or ability, or when patient condition changes significantly. + Obtain instruction and supervision when implementing new or unfamiliar practices or procedures. + Follow established UPMC policies, UPMC LPN Practice Guidelines, and the State Practice Act. + Provide care within LPN practice guidelines, including IV therapy as trained and clinically appropriate. + Deliver patient-centered care within the framework of Relationship-Based Care, engaging patients as partners in their plan of care. + Communicate patient conditions clearly with other providers and maintain thorough, accurate documentation. + Contribute to patient safety, quality, and satisfaction initiatives aligned with organizational goals. + Build compassionate, healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. + Educate patients and families throughout the episode of care and during care transitions. + Support team development by mentoring new LPNs and patient care support staff. + Actively participate in unit activities and process improvement efforts to enhance patient care. + Maintain productive working relationships, demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, and cultural sensitivity. + Promote balance, safety, and well-being through effective time management and modeling healthy work practices. + Report workplace safety hazards to peers and leadership.Additional Expectations: + Demonstrates continuous professional growth by seeking feedback and engaging in ongoing learning opportunities. + Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors. + Performs other duties as assigned. + Education: Graduate of a State Board–approved Practical Nursing Program. + Licensure: Current LPN license in the state of practice or multistate license under the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC). + IV Therapy: + Graduates 2012 or later: IV therapy curriculum included in program. + Graduates prior to 2012: must provide proof of completion of a State Board–approved IV therapy course. + LPNs without this training may not perform IV therapy. + Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). + Skills & Abilities: + Strong clinical judgment with ability to assess, interpret, and respond to patient needs. + Effective communicator and team collaborator with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff. + Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a complex, fast-paced environment. + Physically able to meet job demands (walking, standing, lifting, positioning patients). + Proficient with electronic health records and related technology. **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
