Licensed Practical Nurse, Skilled Nursing - Casual (Per Diem)
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at UPMC, you’ll work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate, high-quality care to residents in accordance with the Practical Nurse Act of Pennsylvania. You’ll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to meet the physical, medical, and psychosocial needs of each resident. Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year of LPN experience and a commitment to excellence in resident care. Shift Details: Casual (Per Diem) role requiring a minimum of 16 weekend hours and 8 additional hours every 4-week schedule. Weekend shifts are required at least every other weekend. Key Responsibilities: + Deliver direct resident care including administering medications, injections, wound care, vital signs, and basic diagnostic tests. + Provide IV therapy as permitted by state regulations and facility policy. + Observe and document resident conditions and report changes to the RN. + Support Certified Nursing Assistants and ensure timely, adequate care is provided. + Participate in resident care planning and interdisciplinary conferences. + Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team. + Promote a culture of safety by adhering to infection control and safety protocols. + Respond to call lights, phones, and assist with meal trays and resident transport. + Maintain professional relationships and demonstrate cultural sensitivity. + Engage in continuous learning and self-development. + Comply with medication use policies and facility procedures. + Seek guidance when performing new or complex tasks and follow established protocols. + Successful completion of a State Board-approved Practical Nursing Program. + Long-term care experience is strongly preferred. + Must hold current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state where the facility is located, or possess a multistate license under the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC), if applicable. + If relocating to the facility’s state, employees must obtain state licensure within 60 days of residency change. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: + Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) + Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required within 30 days of hire, following AHA standards (must include both didactic and hands-on skills demonstration). + Act 34 Clearance + Older Adults Protective Services Act (OAPSA) Clearance UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
