Responsible for planning and managing patient care according to each individual's needs. Interviews patients and records medical history and physical conditions like blood pressure or temperature while obtaining vital signs. Provides basic medical and nursing care, ensures the comfort of patients by helping them bathe or dress, discusses health care with patients, and reports status of patients to registered nurses and doctors.


Principal Accountabilities:

1. Monitors the eating habits and other health related indicators of the patients.
2. Assembles equipment like gastrostomy tubes, catheters, and oxygen supplies.
3. Provides the basic bedside care like dressing wounds, changing bandages, inserting catheters, and giving injections.
4. Records patient's vital signs such as respiration, temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate, and enters the data related to the record of patients in computer systems.
5. Interviews patients and examines their medical history.
6. Regulates vaccinations and injections.
7. Informs the patients about the doctor's order or test results via mail or call
8. Assists registered nurses and other superior nurses to develop best care plan for the patients, and talks to the patients and their families about their treatment plan, tests, and diagnoses.
9. Accomplishes scheduled immunizations, visual acuity testing, nebulizer treatments, and regulate TB tests.
10. Supervises certified nursing assistants and other non-licensed nursing professionals.
11. Starts, monitors, or discontinues the intravenous catheters or the intravenous fluids.1
2. Aids in phlebotomy - analyzes patients, looks over the requisition form for requested tests, and sets equipment, patient and puncture sites.1
3. Calls pharmacies for ordering prescriptions and store supplies in the rooms of patients.1
4. Performs other related duties as assigned.
