Summary:
Assists Chief Engineer in directing and overseeing the activities of the engineering department, regarding the mechanical operations, repair and maintenance functions for the vessel by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors or staff.

Directs and oversees the functionality and safety of the vessel’s engines, boilers, deck machinery, electrical, hydraulic, refrigeration and sanitary systems in accordance with Trident policy as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations.Oversees and establishes the performance and operation standards for all vessel systems. Resolves problems using solutions that involve appropriate techniques, technologies, or concepts.Directs and oversees required documentation for energy management, conservation, and preventative maintenance programs.Oversees the design and implementation of training to ensure that all vessel engineering staff are properly trained, qualified and in compliance with regulatory training and/or regulatory certification requirements. Provides direction and acts as example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.Analyzes and maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.Employees working in Alaska are advised to have medical insurance coverage which is valid in the State of Alaska.
