License Compliance Director-APAC

About the role

Represents the LC function as part of the Zone management team. Supports the organizational culture, values and reputation of the company with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners and regulatory/official bodies. Manages and co-ordinates a team of regional License Compliance Managers to maximize license revenue recovery in support of the goals of the business and in accordance with company guidelines, policies and regional laws, with a target of zero post settlement issues.

Key Responsibilities

Direct and take responsibility for successful negotiations in significant settlement actions. Responsible for approving non-compliant use documentation and or affidavits as may be required in support of legal proceedings. Provide coaching on the execution of license compliance engagements and license remediation. In partnership with Country Managers and sales leaders, contribute to sales pipeline strategy and the License Compliance contribution requirements.  Conceive, develop and deliver regional initiatives as part of the Zone compliance team strategy, in alignment with Zone and Country targets to ensure revenue goals are met.  Manage license compliance business operations including budget/cost control, business planning, monitoring, and reporting. Manage personnel decisions such as recruitment, training and development, performance management, etc., in line with relevant regional regulations.   Participate in relevant Zone level meetings and/or Councils and contribute to global initiatives originating from agreed Council priorities and strategy. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Zone Country Managers and their sales leaders. May receive direction from the Zone Vice President and or Vice President License Compliance, otherwise works under self-management.

Skills and Abilities Required

Ability to work with multiple subject matters and systems including but not limited to: Piracy, Salesforce and SAP systems, general computing and networks, software development, customer license agreements, policies, forecasting, direct and indirect order processing, revenue recognition, KPI reporting and dashboards. Strong and proven track record exhibiting effective negotiation skills. Clear communicator in English and relevant local language both written and oral. Effective relationship builder at Executive level, both internal and external IP Law & General Data Protection Regulation familiarity. 

Education and Experience Requirement

Education

Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Intellectual Property Law or Business Administration.

Experience

15 years in software sales management with 8 years minimum in a senior License Compliance role. Proven experience in Project Management planning and execution.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Normal office environment Travel not typically exceeding 40%** with some trips extending to 5 days

          ** In Asia Pacific travel may demand 60% travel

Reasonable keying activity related to piracy systems, communications, plans and policies etc.
