The University of Virginia Library seeks a Library Systems Administrator to lead and sustain the technical infrastructure supporting compliance with public access policies for federally funded research. This position will serve as the primary system administrator for EclipsePASS, UVA’s platform for public access compliance, and contribute to the broader publishing and repository systems that support research data, open access, library collections, and digital scholarship.
The administrator will guide the technical deployment and long-term stewardship of EclipsePASS, including coordination with other Library and University systems such as Huron, LibraData, LibraOpen, and LibraETD. As a member of the Technology Solutions Group (TSG) within Library IT, this role ensures that services are sustainable, secure, accessible, and responsive to evolving user and policy needs.
This position collaborates across Library departments—including with technical, research, and collections-based staff—and with stakeholders across UVA to deliver effective, compliant, and user-centered systems that support the full lifecycle of research publishing and collections management. Over time, this position may be reassigned to support other library platforms as institutional priorities change.

About the Technology Solutions Group (TSG)
TSG is a service group within UVA Library IT focused on implementing sustainable, human-centered, and efficient SaaS and open-source technology solutions that empower library users and support deep work. The team evaluates, integrates, and maintains a wide range of technologies to meet research, teaching, publishing, collections management, and operational needs.
Responsibilities
Serve as the lead system administrator for assigned platforms, including implementation, configuration, ongoing support, and maintenance. Minimal coding may be required. Collaborate with IT Infrastructure and Development teams to support secure integrations with systems like NetBadge, Huron, DSpace, etc.Translate user and policy requirements into actionable technical needs; respond to service support tickets in Jira Service Management.Create and maintain accurate system documentation and internal knowledge bases (Confluence) and prepare reports on usage, compliance status, and service goals.Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders to support shared understanding and alignment.Serve as backup administrator for other platforms, including the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system and related systems.Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma, Associate's degree PreferredExperience: 3 years in system administration, software configuration, or service management in a production environmentPreferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree preferredFamiliarity with system integration, monitoring, and troubleshooting in collaboration with development or infrastructure teamsExperience with repository platforms (e.g., DSpace, Dataverse, etc.), scholarly publishing systems, or collections management systemsExperience with service or support ticket management systems (e.g., Jira Service Management) and a commitment to responsive, user-centered service deliveryFamiliarity with coding and the technical development lifecycleExperience producing and maintaining technical & operational documentation, with tools such as Confluence, and reporting regularly to support system management, milestone tracking, and service planningFamiliarity with identity and access management (e.g., SAML, LDAP) and with accessibility and security standards (e.g., WCAG, SOC2 Type II)Familiarity with federal open access and data retention mandates (e.g., Nelson Memo/OSTP, NIH, NSF), and understanding of metadata and digital preservation standards in GLAM environmentsExperience in academic libraries or research institutionsPhysical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Anticipated hiring range: $80,000 - $85,000, commensurate with education and experience.
