Are you passionate about preserving and organizing historical collections? We are seeking a dedicated Library Project Specialist to join our team for a 3 to 5-month project in Stevens Point, WI. In this role, you will be instrumental in a significant library collection move, ensuring the meticulous organization, protection, and preservation of rare books and special collections. Your expertise will be crucial in coordinating this complex project, contributing to the legacy of our valued collections.

PAY: 25.00 per hour (Paid biweekly)

Duration: 3 to 5 months

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday

HOURS: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

LOCATION: Stevens Point, WI 54481

Responsibilities:

Execute the detailed packing, labeling, and inventory of library materials, including books, periodicals, and special collections, to ensure seamless transition and tracking.

Develop and implement comprehensive packing lists and a clear labeling system to maintain organizational integrity throughout the relocation process.

Carefully handle, move, and re-shelve a wide range of library materials, including rare books, in accordance with established library shelving and preservation standards.

Collaborate with various internal and external groups to coordinate logistics and ensure a smooth execution of the project plan.

Contribute to the evaluation and development of project plans, providing insights to optimize efficiency and outcomes.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in library operations, archiving, or a related field, with a strong understanding of handling special collections.

Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly in inventory and labeling.

Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and speed.

Experience with handheld scanner usage for inventory or tracking purposes.

Strong communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
