Job Summary Job SummaryPOSITION TITLE: Library Associate SUPERVISED BY: Director of Library and Information Services FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Part Time EFFECTIVE DATE: September 1, 2025 COMPENSATION: $25 - $32/hour Position Summary Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory’s Herbst Library and Information Center’s part-time Library Associate will support our school community's library use and resources. Our robust collection includes 16,000 print volumes, an eBook collection, college-level databases and a research platform housed in the largest high school library in Northern California. The ideal candidate has a fondness for libraries and working with teenagers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Model for students the characteristics of a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic educator; Promote SHC’s mission, philosophy and Integral Student Outcomes; Open library facility and set up devices, displays, and daily announcements every day at 7:00am and ending 1:00pm Facilitate a quiet, welcoming, engaging environment while promoting a studious atmosphere, general order, and neatness on a consistent basis Assist students and faculty with library catalog, online databases, Chromebooks, printers, and other learning technology Assist with scheduling classes and meetings in the Library Catalog and process materials in a variety of formats Create rotating creative, eye-catching, and interactive library displays Create social media content for library displays and programming Maintain circulation system; track overdue materials – generate notices, follow through with students, parents, and Deans when necessary Maintain print collection as necessary: clean, repair, and shelve materials Maintain magazine collection Order and maintain office/cataloging/processing/book repair supplies Assist in the preparation of digital learning resources Assist with research, ready reference, reader’s advisory, and other daily patron services to all students, faculty, an
Requirements / QualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree Experience working with adolescents, keeping a quiet environment, and an ability to work and collaborate with faculty Comfortable with Google applications, Chromebooks, iPads, library databases, library catalogs, Canva, and willing to learn continually Ability to work independently and collaboratively (brainstorm, communicate, and multi-task as an effective team member) Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and to prioritizing tasks Ideal candidates will have an affinity for young adult literature Desired Qualifications Previous experience working in a secondary or middle school Cataloging and general library experience/coursework ideal, but not required The statements herein describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so assigned.
