Responsibilities
Coordinates clinical and administrative support resources to ensure that Bariatric Intake Clinic (BIC) patients receive appropriate services. Manages special scheduling and new patient orientation to program/services for patients. Initiates and completes service recovery activities for escalated patient concerns as needed. Serves as administrative liaison and resource between providers, clinical support staff, and other departments. Liaison between the department leadership team, providers, clinical support staff, patients, families, etc., to ensure effective communication of operational priorities and initiatives. Serves as the primary general information resource for the Bariatric Intake Clinic.
Provides daily oversight for the operations of assigned areas including but not limited to: appointment scheduling; calendar and intake program coordination; insurance verification; and medical records management.
This is an intermediate level position that is responsible for resolving referral, precertification, and/or prior authorization to support insurance specific plan requirements for all commercial, government and other payers. Responsibilities may include pre-appointment insurance review (PAIR) and denials recovery functions. This may include processing of pre-certification and prior authorization for managed care and HMO accounts, as well as working assigned registration denials for government and non-government accounts. This role requires adherence to quality assurance guidelines as well as established productivity standards to support performance expectations.
Qualifications
Associates degree and a minimum of five years of healthcare related experience, or a minimum of seven years of healthcare related experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Extensive use of computers in current and prior job settings is required, including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Experience using an Epic RCM/ERM system is preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal effectiveness required to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines, i.e. physician, administrative, supervisory, and allied health staff. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills and well as phone etiquette/handling, both with patients and colleagues. Preferred qualities: Evidence of working knowledge of billing processes for healthcare services; General knowledge of healthcare terminology and CPT-ICD10 codes; Basic knowledge of and experience in insurance verification and claim adjustments; General knowledge of Bariatrics and/or surgical practices.
