**Job Summary**
The Department of Behavioral Sciences, in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL) invites applicants for a LEO Lecturer I, non-tenure-track appointment, which begins January 5, 2026 through April 30, 2026, for the Winter 2026 term. Contractual full-time rate per term is $25,500; term salary is dependent on number of courses taught and course effort percentage, up to 100% appointment for the Winter 2026 term. The successful candidate will be comfortable teaching in face-to face, hybrid, and asynchronous/online modalities starting for the following courses:
**PSYC 101: Introduction to Psychology - a 3 credit-hour course at 25% effort**
Introduces students to theories and research in the field of psychology. This course focuses on the scientific underpinnings of the field from both the social and natural science perspectives.
**PSYC 200: Introduction to Developmental Psychology - a 4 credit-hour course at 33.33% effort**
Developmental psychology examines how we become who we are by exploring how various genetic and environmental factors interact over time, to further our understanding of how we think and how we behave. This course provides an overview of the principal concepts currently used in developmental psychology in describing and explaining biological, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Students will learn the basis for developmental discussion and reflect upon developmental phenomena. A basic exposure to developmental concepts, research methods, statistics, APA format, peer-review, and ethics provided in this course will prepare students to succeed in upper-level psychology courses.
**PSYC 300: Lifespan Development - a 4 credit-hour course at 33.33% effort**
This course examines human growth and changes from the lifespan perspective by discussing human development from conception through death. Development is examined across the life span in various domains, including physical, social-emotional, cognitive, moral and personality, among others. Developmental theories, stages and influences of development and research methods/findings are emphasized. This course will help students examine the development of ourselves and others, as well as the interactions and relationships we have in the world, as we progress through life.
**PSYC 302: Child Development - a 4 credit-hour course at 33.33% effort**
This course examines the current theories and findings concerning the physical, language and cognitive, and social-emotional development of children, from conception to pre-adolescence. This course focuses on the interaction between genetic and environmental factors in development. This course is an upper-level writing course.
**PSYC 407/507: Psychology of Adolescence - a 4 credit-hour course at 33.33% effort**
This course will expand the discussion of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development in various social and cultural contexts of today's adolescents. Students will explore the current adolescence literature, focusing on theoretical foundations and empirical research findings. Students will develop an in-depth understanding of the experiences of human development during this specific stage of life. Students cannot receive credit for both PSYC 407 (https://catalog.umd.umich.edu/search/?P=PSYC%20407) (undergraduate credit) and PSYC 507 (https://catalog.umd.umich.edu/search/?P=PSYC%20507) (graduate credit).
Specific course assignments will be determined based on departmental needs.

**Required Qualifications***
+ M.A./M.S. or Ph.D. in Psychology
+ Demonstrated training and experience in developmental psychology and experience teaching psychology to undergraduates.
**Desired Qualifications***
+ Experience teaching developmental psychology courses.
+ Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college/ university level.
+ Background in clinical psychology
