We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven General Counsel to lead the legal function for our fast-growing waste operations across Poland. This includes oversight of contractual, legal and regulatory aspects of the waste projects and activities (EFW, biogas…) as well as the corporate legal aspects associated (M&A, Corporate Bodies related aspects…).
You will act as a strategic
advisor to the executive team, managing legal risks, ensuring compliance with
Polish, EU and international regulations, and supporting long-term partnerships
with both public and private stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal & Regulatory
Leadership
Provide
comprehensive legal support for environmental and infrastructure projects,
including development, engineering, construction, financing, and
operations.
Advise
on matters related to environmental law.
Interpret
and apply Polish and EU laws (e.g., energy law, environmental protection
law, waste management).
- Corporate, contracts &
Procurement
Advise
on any corporate aspects of the business (companies law, financing, data
protection, antritrust…)
Draft,
negotiate, and manage contracts related to the waste activity for EPC,
O&M, PPA, land lease, joint ventures, and concession arrangements.
Advise
on public procurement processes and PPP structures, particularly for waste
treatment projects.
- Compliance & Permitting
Ensure
ongoing compliance with permits, environmental impact assessments
(EIA), emissions regulations, and reporting obligations.
Liaise
with relevant agencies (e.g., URE, WIOŚ, GDOŚ, NFOŚiGW) and oversee
environmental audits and inspections.
- Ethics & Compliance
Ensure
the business is conducted with full observance of the ethics and
compliance highest standards, as per the Suez Ethics and Compliance
Policies and Procedures.
- Risk & Dispute Management
Identify,
report and manage legal and regulatory risks.
Handle
claims, disputes, and litigation, including coordination with external
legal and technical experts.
- Stakeholder & Team
Management
Engage
with partners, clients, regulators, municipalities, landowners, investors,
lenders and providers.
Build,
coordinate and lead the specialist external counsels in a cost-efficient
manner.
