Legal Counsel II
Job Description Insight Global is looking for a Legal Counsel II to support a leading financial institution. Reporting to a Practice Leader in Alberta, Counsel II handles assigned insurance legal matters and represents the client or its policyholders in civil litigation matters involving claims for damages and compensation for personal injury or property damage of varying value with legal issues of ranging complexity. This role will involve developing and revising appropriate legal strategy for questioning, investigation, handling and trial of cases. They will communicate with clients analysts and insured clients, as appropriate and conduct necessary and appropriate questioning, applications, trials, and mediations. To succeed, this individual will need to research the law applicable to cases or matters and draft legal documents, pleadings, applications and legal factums as required. Hybrid work model. Skills and Requirements Completion of law school with LLB and admission to the bar in Alberta. 5+ years experience as a lawyer with a background in insurance defense litigation or other litigation, including personal injury or general litigation. Knowledge of legal and court documents and procedures. Knowledge of standard office equipment and word processing. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to edit and proof legal documents.
