How you make a difference
The Legal Business Analyst reviews, analyzes, and reconciles legal invoices to ensure accuracy, compliance with billing guidelines, and alignment with contractual agreements and internal policies. This role identifies billing discrepancies and collaborates with law firms and internal stakeholders to resolve errors and non-compliant charges. The position performs reconciliations across invoices, accruals, budgets, and payments to support financial accuracy and internal controls. The Legal Business Analyst analyzes legal spend data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings. This role partners with Legal, Finance, and Accounts Payable teams to support reporting, forecasting, and continuous improvement of legal billing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Review and audit legal invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with billing guidelines and agreements
Identify, investigate, and resolve billing discrepancies with law firms and internal stakeholders
Reconcile invoices, accruals, budgets, and payments to ensure financial accuracy
Analyze legal spend data to identify trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities
Support reporting, forecasting, and process improvements related to legal billing and spend management
Qualifications & Requirements
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Legal Studies, or a related field
EXPERIENCE
2+ years of experience in legal billing, legal operations, finance, accounting, or a similar analytical role
Experience with legal e-billing or matter management systems (e.g., Origami, Legal Tracker, CounselLink, TyMetrix, or similar)
Experience reviewing invoices or financial transactions for accuracy and compliance
Experience working in a corporate legal department or professional services environment
