DescriptionThe Wayne County Land Bank is seeking a highly capable and driven attorney to serve as its Legal Advisor. The Legal Advisor will oversee the Land Bank's core legal programs; provide legal advice and opinions on areas of property law and government administration; promote and implement strategic policy initiatives; ensure compliance with the Land Bank's regulatory scheme; and represent the Land Bank in litigation; among other responsibilities.The Legal Advisor- Land Bank is a leader on the Land Bank's team who possesses the vision to implement new ideas and solve new problems. As part of the position, the Legal Advisor will interface closely with local residents, governmental partners, and policymakers. This position will serve a crucial role in furthering the Land Bank's core mission of stabilizing communities in Metro Detroit.Required TasksOperate Land Bank legal programsDraft and negotiate contractual agreementsWork with the Executive Director on Land Bank strategy and visioningWork with the Operations Director on programmatic monitoring and enforcementServe as the Land Bank's lead litigation counselProvide counsel on a range of legal issues, primarily in the fields of property law and governmental law and regulationEnsure compliance with the Land Bank's bylaws, policies, and statutory schemeDraft and implement policies and programsPerform additional duties as assignedEducational/Experience RequirementsA Juris Doctor from an accredited Law SchoolLicensed to practice law in MichiganIn good standing with the State Bar of MichiganThree to five years prior experience in assigned practice area.Experience in property law, real estate, and governmental policy preferred
