**FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT**

The Department of Nursing and is currently housed in the School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing (HS2N). The School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing currently includes six departments: Exercise Science and Recreation; Health Promotion and Nutrition Sciences; Health Equity, Administration & Technology; Social Work; Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, and Nursing. The school is also home to the CUNY Institute for Health Equity. Departments in the School actively engage with community and government partners to support evidence-based practices and health equity, with a special emphasis on urban populations. The faculty are also strongly committed to high quality teaching and preparation of ethical and skilled health and human service professionals.
The Department of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Lecturer or Doctoral Lecturer’s position beginning Spring 2026. The Department of Nursing is seeking a candidate with a strong background in Adult Health Nursing, Psych-Mental Health Nursing and/or Pediatrics/Maternal Health Nursing. Candidates must have a strong commitment to nursing education at the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates must have a strong commitment to nursing didactic and clinical education at the undergraduate level and graduate level and must be able assist students with the transfer of nursing concepts from theory to application. The successful candidate reports directly to the Chairperson of Nursing and will be expected to teach mainly undergraduate theory courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson. The teaching load is 24 credit hours, this translate to teaching four courses per fall and spring semester. Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement, including advisement. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship and professional development support.
**Essential Duties and responsibilities**
1. Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings that are assigned by the department chair and the candidate’s level of credentials and experience.
2. Provides academic advising and mentoring to nursing students, supporting their academic and professional development.
3. Provide service to the department, college, university, and community, i.e. committee, administrative, and other assignments normally associated with a full-time lecturer appointment. Evening, weekends, online, hybrid, and face-to-face teaching may be required.
4. Prepares and updates course materials to reflect current evidence-based practice and meet course objectives.
5. Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies to promote student engagement and success.
6. Participates in curriculum review and development to ensure alignment with professional standards and program learning outcomes.
7. Contributes to course and program-level assessment activities including accreditation and program evaluation processes.
8. Maintains regular office hours for student advisement, support and guidance.
9. Participates in departmental meetings, committees, and initiatives as assigned.
10. Attends faculty and professional development sessions, conferences, or workshops relevant to teaching and nursing practice.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
**Lecturer:** Master’s degree in Nursing with the ability to teach successfully in the area of adult health mental health and/or pediatric/maternal health nursing. Excellent organizational skills. Also required are demonstrated experience working in a large and diverse program, administrative skills, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. (Please note our accrediting bodies require a masters in nursing for BS programs).
**Lecturer on a Doctoral Schedule:** PhD, EdD, DNS’, DNP degree in Nursing with the ability to teach successfully in the area of adult health and community-based care. Excellent organizational skills. Also required are demonstrated experience working in a large and diverse program, administrative skills, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Lecturer/Doctoral Schedule **$101,040-$107,686**
