Lecturer of Sport Management

The Maine Business School (AACSB Accredited) at the University of Maine seeks applicants for a teaching faculty position at the rank of Lecturer, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025. This is a full-time, ongoing appointment, renewed annually based on satisfactory performance. A preference would be for a candidate to have experience and interest in sport sales and revenue generation, with a secondary interest in sport management analytics.
The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective and engaging teacher, to make a strong commitment to the development and delivery of innovative curricula, to collaborate with the MBS and colleagues to increase student success, and to advise and mentor undergraduates and graduates in pursuit of their academic and professional goals. The typical teaching load is four courses per semester at the undergraduate or graduate level, with the option to reduce this to three courses per term when engaged in significant service to the Maine Business School. The candidate will be expected to participate in maintenance of AACSB accreditation. Service to the MBS, University, and in the Community is expected.
MBS invites teaching faculty to participate as full and equal partners in curriculum development, projects and committees related to the educational mission, and School governance. We support the professional goals and development of teaching faculty.
The Maine Business School (umaine.edu/business) is an AACSB Accredited institution offering both BS and MBA degrees. We currently host six undergraduate majors (Accounting, Business Information Systems – Security Management, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Sport Management), two concentrations (Entrepreneurship and International Business), and several minors. The Graduate School of Business offers an online MBA with an evening option and several concentrations and dual-degree options.

Qualifications:
Required:
+ Master's degree in Sport Management or an MBA with a concentration in Sport, or related field
+ 5 years of professional experience in the sport industry
Preferred:
+ Ph.D. in Sport Management, or related field
+ Instructional experience (e.g., teaching assistantship, tutoring, etc.) in Sport Management
+ Demonstrated evidence of quality teaching
+ Experience teaching online and in person
+ More than 8 years of professional experience in the sport industry
+ Professional certifications of value to the industry
+ Documented participation in activities promoting inclusive excellence
