The following courses may be offered to part-time adjunct faculty members during the 2025-2026 academic year: Supervision and Evaluation of School Personnel (EDU 552) This course provides an overview of supervisory practice in public schools. It draws upon effective schools, effective teaching, teacher and adult development, and supervisory practice literature as a foundation for direct assistance to teachers and general supervisory work. The course includes Maine State Law regarding hiring and dismissal practices, just cause, contract issues, dismissal, non-renewal, progressive discipline, and complaint investigation. School Finance (EDU 553) This course presents a comprehensive introduction to resource acquisition, management, and leadership at the school level. Further, it is designed to engage students in exploring the practical realities of resource leadership and to examine in depth their own skills and knowledge in light of their goals for school leadership. Specifically, in the course students will: + Develop a comprehensive understanding of resource acquisition, management, and deployment as a central part of their leadership effectiveness. + Understand the procedural and legal parameters for financial and other resource acquisition, management, and deployment. + Build skills and understanding for leading this dimension of the school effectively. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: + Lesson planning + Assignment design + Grading + Correspondence with students + Course coordination meetings + Required orientation and trainings (i.e., compliance training) Required Qualifications: + Master's degree in Educational Leadership or a closely related field + Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience in a public school setting + Academic preparation adequate for the course(s) to be taught Preferred Qualifications: + At least two (2) years' college teaching experience + Licensed in Maine as a Building Administrator or Superintendent Technology Requirements: Part-time faculty members teaching at the University of Maine at Farmington are required to have the appropriate technology to teach in a fully online environment. This includes, but is not limited to: + Computer (laptop) with appropriate amounts of processing speed + High-speed internet connection + Webcam + Microphone Salary & Benefits: Part-time faculty members are compensated on a per-credit-hour basis, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and in accordance with the Maine Part-Time Faculty Association (PATFA) contract. Teaching opportunities in future semesters are based on course funding, performance, need and availability. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable university policies.
