POSITION PURPOSE
The Learning & Development Specialist supports learning across The Raley’s Companies creating memorable and impactful ways to expand our team members’ knowledge and support their success. The Learning & Development team serves our team members at all levels across all The Raley’s Companies, with the goal of providing engaging, effective and efficient learning.
In this key role, the Learning & Development Specialist will design solutions that build knowledge of new processes and launches, legal and compliance requirements and developing job skills, both operational and leadership. This role will help to ensure that our company is able to meet their growth and transformation goals and to achieve strategies in the long-term plan; including bringing to life a modern vision for the Learning and Development team that focuses on microlearning, training for new leaders and a quick uptake for new programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. *Partners with organizational experts and leaders to develop learning and development plans that support building knowledge and job skills.
a. Works with SMEs at every level of the business to identify training needs, opportunities and gaps.
b. Creates recommendations and defines learning modality based on those relationships and findings.
c. Become a SME when possible on new projects and initiatives to better understand the impact on the end-user in order to create the most effective training.
d. Through the Learning and Development Manager, understand upcoming project needs for the Growth and Transformation department.
e. Focuses on improving business results through appropriate, effective training programs that are designed on best practices and adult learning methodologies.
f. Measures effectiveness of instructional design and program support.
2. *Conducts needs analysis, determines training needs, recommends solutions, designs training programs and develops evaluation process to ensure training effectiveness.
a. Develop vision, storyboard and create eLearns/online training using Articulate, Camtasia, Adobe, etc.
b. Create blending learning methods, when applicable, combining: instructor-led, web-based, online courses, peer-to-peer and on-the-job training.
c. Develop written training materials appropriate to the project (JobAids, User Guides, etc.).
d. Manages video and photo shoots for programs as needed.
e. Understands and supports learning for federal, state, local and Company compliance.
f. Gathers business partner and user feedback on courses to confirm desired objectives are met.
3. *Supports the continuous evolution of learning for The Raley’s Companies.
a. Evaluates, analyzes and reports on learning effectiveness to business partners.
b. Develops and maintains brand standards for all training materials to ensure a consistent appearance.
c. Partner with the Growth & Transformation Department to create training that leads to a quick uptake in certain products or processes.
d. Under guidance from the L&D Managers, support the rollout and evolution of The Raley’s Companies Learning Academy.
e. Ensures materials are current and support the Company’s vision, mission and direction.
f. Stays up-to-date on new learning theories and methodologies to ensure we continue to create learning that is meaningful for our team members.
4. *Functions in a Shared Service environment.
a. Works across all of The Raley’s Companies with SME’s, leadership and business partners, to create training that satisfies the needs of all banners of the business.
b. Works with SME’s and key stakeholders to bring one vision to life for all companies/ departmental training that can be used across The Raley’s Companies.
5. *Acts as second-level support for day-to-day utilization of the LMS system.
a. Responsible on dedicated days for providing support to the L&D team’s inbox.
b. Acts as a backup administrator for the LMS to post courses, manage access to courses/programs, preparing class profiles and responding to questions about the use of the LMS.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business Administration or related field preferred. Five (5) or more years of retail industry experience with four (4) or more years of Learning and Development, training development or graphic design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with LMS or HRIS as a super-user or administrator.
CERTIFICATION:
Must possess a valid driver’s license for frequent travel to stores and other locations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: § Day-to-day operations of a multi-level organization. § Knowledge of team member performance, systematic approach to analyzing, improving and managing performance in the workplace. § All Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
SKILLS/
ABILITIES:
§ Exceptional collaboration and customer service skills. § Excellent communication skills:written, oral and facilitation. § Experience with Learning Management and Content Management systems preferred. § Experience with technical writing, creation of written training materials preferred. § Use of eLearning technology tools including Storyline, PowerPoint, Adobe and Camtasia. § Experience with instructional design, graphic design and video and photography preferred. § Flexible and agile, works well in ambiguous situations and able to work with partners in different states. § Self-motivated and self-directed. § Ability to champion new ideas and initiatives. § Ability to be a forward thinker- how can we do things better? § Willingness to work in the field (stores) to stay connected to our business and to understand store functionality and audience. § Ability to articulate and simplify complex concepts in a user-friendly tone. § Strong planning, organizational skills and conflict resolution skills. § Is a solution seeker and problem solver. § Ability to maintain confidentiality.
