Lean Process Improvement Intern
The Lean Process Improvement Intern will support Atlantic Health’s Organization Effectiveness and Productivity Department’s Lean Six Sigma Black Belts in improving operational effectiveness, workflow efficiency, and service quality across clinical and administrative environments. This role offers hands‑on experience with Lean methodology, data analysis, and change management. Key Responsibilities Process & Workflow Support + Assist in documenting current‑state processes through flowcharting and process mapping + Support root‑cause identification for process inefficiencies using Lean/Six Sigma tools + Contribute to the development of improved future‑state workflows Project Support + Assist in the preparation of project deliverables + Participate in meetings, work sessions, and improvement events + Communicate with cross‑functional project teams + Create visuals and videos to teach AHS team members about Lean tools Data & Analysis + Knowledge of basic data analysis techniques. + Conduct basic trend and performance analysis in Excel including the use of pivot tables Communication & Change Management + Assist in developing communication materials explaining process changes + Translate complex concepts into easy‑to‑understand visuals or summaries + Support stakeholder engagement. Learning Outcomes + Practical understanding Lean principles + Exposure to structured project management and change facilitation + Hands‑on skills in process mapping, project facilitation, and problem‑solving + Insight into hospital and health‑system operations Required + Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a public or private College/University, and be in good academic standing at their institution + Current undergraduate student studying Business, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, Public Health, or similarly related majors + Interest in Lean, Six Sigma, operations, or process improvement + Proficiency in Microsoft Office + Video editing or creation experience + Strong verbal written communication skills + Self‑motivated + Able to work collaboratively and independently + Ability to travel to AHS locations + Must be committed to completing the duration of the internship from June 2026 - August 2026 + Work 20 hours per week and commit to a minimum of 200 hours for the duration of the internship + Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, asylee, refugee, or lawful permanent resident Preferred + Knowledge of basic Lean Six Sigma concepts + Experience with data analysis or process mapping + Knowledge of business operations or project management At Atlantic Health System, our promise to our communities is; Anyone who enters one of our facilities, will receive the highest quality care delivered at the right time, at the right place, and at the right cost.
