Purpose Summary

The Leadership Specialist collaborates with other specialists as part of the Academic Impact Team within Pearson Virtual School (PVS). This team is dedicated to enhancing educational outcomes by developing specialized programs aimed at training and advancing evidence-based leadership best practice in virtual learning. The Leadership Specialist understands the Connections Academy Schools leadership structure and focuses on training and influencing school leadership teams and teachers as they incorporate best practice in school improvement planning and daily instruction. 

The Leadership Specialist collaborates with Partner Success team members and Academic Impact Partners to assist schools in the implementation of evidence-based strategies. The Leadership Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the PVS commitment to achieving established learner and operational outcomes

Core Tasks and Responsibilities

Leads and facilitates high-quality and relevant learning experiences for administrators and school leadership teams to guide the implementation of effective operations and instructional programs in support of achieving desired learner outcomes; Uses data and feedback to support the leadership capacity of school leadership teams with particular focus on instruction, data analysis, community, and culture; Coordinates and leads the mentoring program for school administrators, including training of mentors; In partnership with others, deliver school leadership trainings, including Leadership Academy, school leader onboarding, mentoring and L360,etc.; Collaborate with team members and school teams to plan and facilitate effective monthly school leadership meetings; Designs, develops and maintains a library of high-quality on-demand professional development tools and resources; Member of school leadership professional development committee; Member school leader conference committee; Delivers training and professional development for PVS teams; All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience, and Competencies

Minimum of 5 years of work experience in education Experience working in a virtual school leadership role Experience creating and delivering professional learning  Master’s Degree in School Leadership preferred  School Leadership or Administrative Certification (in any state) preferred Excellent software skills, especially with Microsoft Office  Strong analytical skills  Excellent interpersonal, written communication skills Strong facilitation skills with the ability to navigate difficult conversations Experience with change management  Superior listening and problem-solving skills  Ability to work effectively both with and without supervision  Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships at all levels of the organization  Must thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, with ability to manage multiple, competing priorities  Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work well in team environment

Key relationships

Works closely with other members of the Academic Impact Team, including the Product Specialists, the Literacy Specialist, the Math Specialist, the School Impact Specialist, and the Instructional Coaching Specialist Works closely with various Curriculum and Product team members, including the Research and Efficacy Team Partners with Service Delivery and the Partner Success Team

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $65,000 - $75,000.
