About the role
Royal Mail is seeking an experienced fleet and distribution leader to take on a vital, large-scale logistics operation and drive performance across two key Vehicle Operating Centres in NW London. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader in Road Transport Management who has experience leading fleet and distribution teams.
This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility of our Princess Royal DC and Greenford sites where you’ll manage a team of 9 Transport Managers and oversee up to 250 HGV and agency drivers, delivering operational excellence and continuous improvement across a complex and fast-paced environment ensuring safe, legal, and efficient mail transportation across the network.

What you'll be doing
Lead and develop an extensive team to deliver a safe and compliant operation of fleet and distribution activities across both sites Ensure full compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements relating to fleet and vehicle operations, including holding and maintaining the site’s Operator’s Licence (O Licence) and acting as the lead CPC holder Coach and develop Transport Office Managers, ensuring high performance and strong employee engagement Drive team performance by leading, motivating and inspiring your team to deliver operational excellence Collaborate with Fleet Maintenance and Asset Managers to optimise vehicle and container utilisation Drive continuous improvement using KPI and balanced scorecard metrics Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including union representatives, TfL and logistics partners including Logistics UK
What you'll bring
Proven leadership experience within the transport industry Excellent knowledge of UK road transport legislation and safety standards CPC qualification and willingness to be named on the Operating LicenceExperience managing people and collaborating with wider remote teamsStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
