Lead Technician Supervisor

The Test Technology Division (TTD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Technician Supervisor to provide leadership and technical support in weapons effects testing and build a lasting career with ARA. The candidate will lead a team of technicians in assisting the engineering/scientific staff stationed at ARA’s Moriarty Range (AMR) located just east of Moriarty, NM, with possible work at Kirtland Air Force Base and White Sands Missile Range locations. The candidate will support fabrication of structures and test articles, which include welding/cutting, carpentry, machining, concrete placements, heavy equipment operations, plumbing, mechanics, pneumatics, and surveying. Must work well with others and provide innovative feedback and problem solving in teams of engineers and technicians as well as demonstrate leadership skills The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment with frequent client interaction that requires strong multi-tasking and communication skills. The candidate should have a background in general construction/metal fabrication with hands on experience in various machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, bandsaws, heavy equipment operations (loaders, forklifts), hand tools, power tools and welding. Duties will include fabrication of test articles, general clean up, general test support setup as well as general facility housekeeping, maintenance, and inventory management.

As a member of the TTD team, you will be instrumental in supporting planning and field testing for evaluation of weapon effects in a variety of scenarios. These tests are critical to the development of technologies that safeguard our nation from future threats. Testing is highly varied and includes CBRNE defeat and counter-WMD technologies. There will be opportunities to work with technologies in advanced energetic materials, ground shock, thermal effects, structural response, radiation detection, chem/bio defeat, 3D printing, autonomous unmanned systems, and air blast effects.

Essential Functions:

Lead & supervise a team of technicians Test bed construction Test preparation Facility and equipment maintenance Tool, equipment, and materials inventory management Host daily safety and coordination meetings with engineers and program managers Facility process development Facilitate technician scheduling and coordination across multiple test sites and projects

Required Experience/Skills:

Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance US citizenship is required 4+ years of relevant experience Excellent communication skills Ability to work well both within a team and independently Demonstrated leadership skills Ability to lift 50 lbs Ability to back a trailer (bumper-pull and gooseneck)

Preferred:

Experience with assisting with field test planning and execution Crane operation certifications Survey experience OSHA training CDL Welding certifications
