Lead Technical Product Manager

We are looking for a Lead Technical Product Manager with a strong technical focus to drive the strategic vision and development of two areas of our Nextgen Payroll platform. This role requires a hands-on approach to UX design, deep technical engagement, and a vision for building a robust, scalable platform. You will play a critical role in gathering user feedback, tracking usage metrics, and ensuring the platform evolves to meet both business and customer needs. 

As a key leader, you will oversee product grooming, feature backlog prioritization, sprint preplanning, roadmap reviews, and JIRA management, ensuring prioritization aligns with company goals. Additionally, you will manage features for two scrum teams: one focused on building developer experience and another delivering a high-visibility, innovative product offering. 

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities 

Strategic Architecture: Define and maintain the vision for a scalable and robust platform architecture.  User Feedback: Gather and analyze user feedback to inform product decisions and track usage metrics to measure success.  UX Design: Collaborate on hands-on UX design to ensure seamless user experiences.  Technical Brainstorms: Conduct deep-dives into technical discussions with engineering teams to solve complex challenges.  Product Grooming: Manage and refine the product backlog to ensure clarity and alignment with priorities.  Managing the Feature Backlog: Develop and maintain a roadmap that balances short-term needs with long-term goals.  Sprint Preplanning: Work closely with engineering teams to prepare for upcoming sprints and ensure readiness.  Roadmap Reviews: Regularly review and update the roadmap with stakeholders to align on priorities.  JIRA Management: Oversee JIRA workflows, ensuring tasks are properly tracked and prioritized.  Prioritization: Make data-driven decisions to prioritize features and initiatives based on impact and feasibility. 

 

 Skills Required 

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of platform as a service, APIs, and scalability principles.  UX Design: Hands-on experience in UX design, with a focus on user-centric solutions.  Data Analysis: Ability to track and interpret usage metrics to inform product decisions.  Problem-Solving: Skilled in conducting deep technical brainstorms and resolving complex challenges.  Product Management: Proficiency in product grooming, sprint planning, and roadmap development.  Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile frameworks and tools like JIRA for managing workflows.  Communication: Excellent ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences and collaborate across teams.  Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment on product vision.  Multi-Team Coordination: Experience managing features across multiple scrum teams with distinct goals. 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, UX Design, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).  Experience: 7+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on technical platforms and UX design.  Domain Experience: Payroll  Technical Background: Familiarity with APIs, cloud platforms, and software development processes.  Certifications: Payroll fundamentals, Product management certifications
