The Lead Systems Engineer will be a key member of the Fleet Systems Engineering team and be responsible for interfacing with multiple Engineering disciplines, Business Managers, Project Managers, and customers. In this role you will be accountable for meeting functional, business, and broad company objectives in support of customers with operating BWR plants. The Lead Systems Engineer will be challenged with complex technical issues in a dynamic project environment.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Lead and conduct calculations, design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for various BWR safety and non-safety system functionsApply engineering knowledge and practical experience to the analysis, investigation, and solution of complex design problems and application issuesDevelop drawings and specifications to assure products can reliably meet all engineering and quality requirementsProfessionally respond to customer information requests, emergent plant issues, and auditsWork proactively with existing BWR product line and quality personnel through process procedure approvals, process qualification approvals, and non-conforming material dispositionReview proposals and evaluate orders with emphasis on knowledge of BWR system design bases, operations, and maintenanceSupport initiatives for new or improved plant components and system-level analysesSupport GVH quality requirements defined in policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related area from an accredited college or universityMinimum of 5 years of experience working with Nuclear Plant Safety Systems and ComponentsMinimum of 5 years of experience working with multi-disciplined Engineering or Operations teams on BWR Nuclear Power Plant Systems

Desired Characteristics

In-depth knowledge of BWR reactor major NSSS systems (such as CRD, Recirculation, ECCS, RWCU, SLC, Main Steam – MSIVs and SRVs, HPCI, RCIC, HPCS) and their operationFamiliar of setpoint calculation standards and regulations such as:  ISA 67.04.01 and RG 1.105Proven technical skills within project management environmentProven oral / written communication and teamwork skillsCommercial Nuclear Power Plant Systems experience, Professional Engineering License, or Advanced Degree from an accredited college or universityDemonstrated ability to perform while challenged by multiple demands and changing prioritiesStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills, including customer interface experienceDemonstrated leadership skills, including a minimum of 2 years of experience as a lead or lead contributor on major projectsKnowledge of BWR nuclear plant systems and analyses techniques, commercial plant outages, and nuclear industrypracticesExperience with design, evaluation, and operation of nuclear power plant components, primarily BWRs

Eligibility Requirements:

The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered.Less than 10% travel is required; however, if remote then selected candidate must be comfortable to travel to Wilmington, NC on a quarterly basis.

The base pay range for this position is $86,000 to $122,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on Thursday, August 21st

 

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
