Job Title: Lead Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description

As a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving quality across assigned suppliers, ensuring product, process, and systemic quality review associated with the product procurement process. You will own supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed.

ResponsibilitiesDrive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation.Conduct product, process, and systemic quality reviews associated with the product procurement process.Own and perform supplier audits, ensuring compliance and driving improvement plans where necessary.Manage supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assist key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence.Ensure compliance and conformance of all requirements from the supply base.Partner with the sourcing organization to ensure engineering requirements are met and compliance to all flowdowns.Develop new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organization.Coordinate with suppliers to drive root cause and corrective action investigations.Specify needs, communicate about project approach, and present outcomes of research done.Perform audits at the supply base.Balance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projects.Provide technical/commercial assistance to Commodity Buyers to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge.Actively participate in supplier performance reviews.Advise Functional managers regarding projects, processes, and procedures within their own field.Contribute to projects as a team member or lead small projects.Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier first time yield, process capability, supplier quality plan engagement effectiveness, and corrective and preventative action closure.Understand and drive Six Sigma quality internally and with suppliers.Provide leadership during investigations of major problems and/or special projects.Essential SkillsRoot Cause AnalysisAPQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)Calipers usageComposite material knowledgeRCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action)ISHIKAWA8D problem-solving methodologyAS 9100 Quality Management SystemQuality Engineering expertiseQuality Assurance proficiencyFirst Article Inspection (FAI)MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul)Supplier Quality knowledgeAerospace industry experienceDOD (Department of Defense) knowledgeManufacturing and Mission Assurance experienceAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Quality Engineering)Minimum of 3 years of experience in Supplier Quality EngineeringStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility to influence others and lead small teamsLead initiatives of moderate scope and impactAbility to coordinate several projects simultaneouslyEffective problem identification and solution skillsProven analytical and organizational abilityWork Environment

The role is based in a beautiful, large manufacturing plant located right on the water, opened 91 years ago. The facility manufactures state-of-the-art components for aircrafts, catering to airline customers like Boeing and Airbus. The flagship product is the Nacelle/Thrust Reverser, a large brake system for jet engines. Employee background and drug screening is required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middle River, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr.
