Lead Specialist - Investments –Fund Accounting– Valuations (Private Markets)
Mercer Alternatives is a global specialist in alternative investments, including private markets. We offer customized and pooled investment solutions and advisory services for institutional investors across various asset classes, including private equity, private debt, infrastructure, real estate, and hedge funds.
As a member of the Fund Operations Team you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational aspects of Mercer private markets funds.
We will count on you to:
Valuation
Take on an active role in the year-round valuation process including quarterly valuation and auditRole will comprise a) maintenance of portfolio company financial metrics database, b) oversight of valuation and c) NAV to capital statement reconciliation during auditDrive efficiency and quality in valuation processFund operations
Liaise with external stakeholders such as fund administrators, investment managers, and auditors.Review financial statements and fund reports.Contribute to the cash management process of the funds.Manage investor communications via client team.Assist the onboarding team with new investor closings.Support the audit of the funds.General
Develop and drive process improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.Play an important role in a new team, working closely with colleagues in other locations.Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including investment teams, portfolio management, legal & compliance, and technology.Act as a peer reviewer and mentor for junior colleaguesBuild and maintain new manager relationships; serve as lead relationship manager on investment manager and client relationships as requiredWhat you need to have:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting Mathematics, Engineering, or a similar fieldExperience in Big4, or asset management (2-4 years' experience) with a strong understanding of Valuation, Fund Accounting, Financial Principles and Concepts.Theoretical knowledge on valuation methodologies typically used to value private market assets (typically PE, Infrastructure and RE)Advanced knowledge on Microsoft Office especially Excel with experience into using tables, complex formulas and VBAWhat makes you stand out:
