Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our Fraud and Claims Technology team within the Chief Operating Office (COO) Technology Group.
This group delivers innovative technology solutions that support operations, strategic execution, business continuity, regulatory compliance, customer experience, and more—driving modernization and optimization across the enterprise.
In this role, you’ll help build secure, scalable systems that protect our customers from fraud and disputes.

What You’ll DoWrite clean, efficient, and well-tested code that integrates seamlessly with platform releases.Design, test, and refine prompts to optimize AI model performance across various applications.Stay current with advancements in AI and NLP, incorporating new techniques into prompt engineering.Collaborate in an Agile environment with architects, developers, and product owners to deliver high-quality solutions.Align prompt design with project goals and user needs through close collaboration with AI developers and product managers.Promote best practices in software development, architecture, and deployment across environments.Participate in code reviews and automated testing to uphold engineering excellence.Drive creative improvements to enhance performance, scalability, and maintainability.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education.5+ years of experience in Agile Software Development.2+ years of experience with AI programming languages and framework2+ years of experience in prompt engineering and LLM technologies, including crafting and optimizing AI prompts, leading best practices, and managing prompt libraries for scalable, high-quality AI outputs.Desired Qualifications:Expertise in prompt engineering, including crafting context-rich prompts and optimizing AI outputs.Experience with A/B testing and iterative refinement of AI-generated content.Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including data scientists, developers, and product managers.Leadership experience in mentoring prompt engineers and establishing best practices.Familiarity with LLM technologies, prompt libraries, and strategic tool selection.Domain expertise in legal and compliance within the financial services sector.Proactive risk assessment and mitigation, especially around AI bias, security, and ethics.Experience with Pega Software Engineering.Strong executive presence, facilitation skills, and attention to detail.Background in AI and NLP, including deep learning and neural networks.Excellent communication and presentation skills across technical and non-technical audiences.Knowledge of fraud management tools and techniques.Proven ability to influence and build trust across organizational boundaries.Strategic thinking and problem-solving with a focus on proactive solutions.Experience with Agile transformations and Enterprise Change Management tools and procedures.Job Expectations:Must be able to work onsite in one of the posted locations.Ability to travel up to 10%.Pay Range
