Job Description

The Lead Secondary Engineer is the technical guarantor of the proper performance of design works conducted in his/her field of activity, in matter of committed design budget (man days), deadline and Quality, in line with Customer expectation, while promoting ease of installation, operation and maintenance of the system.

As a High Voltage Substation Control, protection & low voltage system designer Engineer, your main responsibility is to design, be part of the design of the design of a high-voltage & HVDC substations, ensuring their reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards, protection standard, and regulations. Collaboration with other engineers and support for project documentation and continuous improvement initiatives are also key aspects of this role.

He/she plans basic and detailed design activities, manages & oversees detailed execution progress, coordinates delivery of required engineering documentation for procurement, manufacturing and site erection associated to concerned activity, based on Customer specifications and requirement, and internal standards.

He/she coordinates elaboration of documents done internally or through subcontracting.

A Lead Secondary engineer has the capacity to manage design packages integrated in “Full set” projects according to PMH

With an important customer in terms of secured and potential contracts or target market. That constitutes a major financial, technical and or commercial risk & opportunities The impact of the project will have a significant effect on the Business unit Operating within an (inter)national environment with many complex internal and suppliers’ interfaces

Key missions of the Lead Secondary Engineer:

Project managementscope of work & time scheduleEstablish, based on tender and contract analysis, and project strategy, the list of documents to produce for his/her field of activity Evaluates with PEM or PM engineering workload and deliverables dates for concerned package, and commits to such budget in man days and in time deliveryTime delivery masteringEnsures on-time delivery of design, including Partner documents, to stakeholders with suitable qualityAnticipate and mitigate delivery issues and recommend changesLead & coordinate his/her design teamManage and monitor detailed execution progress and short-term planRequest from PEM or PM required technical coordination meetings with partners or key suppliers if & when appropriate, to synchronize respective designsGive necessary input for management / monitoring detailed execution progress and short-term planResourcesOn monthly basis, measure design physical progress on relevant studies, and provides PEM with relevant data for evaluation of ETTCManage design time spent in man-hours on relevant activities

Desired Profile and ExperienceTechnology Academic studies, Diploma of high education or equivalent education (electrical or mechanical, function of field of activity involved)Most suitable candidates will come from the technical stream5-8+ years engineering experience in the related activity/discipline, preferably in project & EPC type environment in T&D, Power Gen or Oil &Gas industry, or 2 to 4 Medium Set projects in position of Lead EngineerKnowledge of Project organisation and engineering processes related to his/her scope of activityExperience of project technical management processes, preferably in a multi-disciplinary team’s context with multiple interfacesSeveral experiences in managing externally subcontracted design work package of various sizesEnglish working knowledgeExperience in technical problem solvingKnowledge of Transmission or Distribution industryWillingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel worldwide.
