Job Details
The Lead Radiologic Technologist is responsible for organizing and supervising all functions of the Radiology department. Supervises Radiologic Technologists and ancillary personnel working in the Radiology area. They work closely with the Radiology manager to ensure smooth operations within the department. Performs Radiology procedures according to department protocols.
The Lead Radiologic Technologist’s patient care/department responsibilities:
+ Responsible for the daily operation of the Radiology Department.
+ Trains and orientates Radiologic Technologists in the operation of the equipment. Updates technologists on advancements and procedure changes.
+ Helps develop technical factors and protocols for the department.
+ Troubleshoots minor equipment and computer malfunctions Responsible for placing service calls to vendor when equipment failure occurs.
+ Keeps department area stocked with supplies. Orders supplies utilizing Lawson system.
+ Coordinates all daily and monthly staffing assignments in Radiology in an efficient manner, which allows adequate coverage for all shifts.
+ Demonstrates ability to solve job related problems.
+ Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and ingenuity. Performs Radiology procedures according to department protocols.
+ Utilizes proper body mechanics when: Moving, positioning and transferring patients without assistance or with assistance when needed for patient safety or moving equipment/supplies that is necessary to perform essential functions.
+ Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
+ Utilizes computer or terminal to access the Hospital Information System.
+ Completes introductory and yearly evaluations in conjunction with the Radiology Manager/Director.
+ Ensures timely completion of X-ray QA/QC requirements.
+ Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone.
+ Responds to overhead and direct pages.
+ Maintains accurate and complete records by performing procedure completion process, both written and in the hospital EMR Radiology system.
+ Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict.
+ Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit.
+ Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements.
+ Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job.
+ Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
+ Performs other required duties for safe departmental operations
+ Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.
+ Adheres to hospital and departmental policies including dress code and confidentiality.
+ Assists with training students.
+ Trained in multiple modalities.
Requirements:
Education: Graduate of approved Radiologic Technology program
Licensure/Certification: Must be registered and have NYS license to practice Radiologic Technology.
Skills, Knowledge or Abilities: Demonstrates the ability to provide competent patient care to the following patient populations: Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adults, Geriatric
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for a prolong period of time, push and lift using available equipment.
Experience: Minimum of two years of Radiology Technologist experience preferred.
Salary Range
USD $43.16 - USD $54.11 /Hr.
The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
