Brightline West is a groundbreaking high-speed rail project connecting Las Vegas, NV to Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This project involves the construction of 220 miles of new single track with passing loops in the I-15 corridor, enabling speeds up to 186 mph and reducing trip time to less than 2 ½ hours! The project strives to remove 3 million cars annually, save 400,000 tons of CO2, and create 40,000 construction and 1,000 permanent jobs.

We are seeking to hire a Construction Cost Estimator (Quantity Surveyor), a hybrid profession that blends engineering, construction, and economics while managing all costs associated with building and civil engineering projects. Your goal will be to minimize expenses and keep them within the limits of the budget and project schedule without compromising on the quality of end results or failing to adhere to the building, health, and safety laws. We will also work with the contractors and clients from the onset, preparing comprehensive project estimates, gathering contract documentation, conducting feasibility studies, and undertaking risk control. This position will be based in Las Vegas, NV.

What your day-to-day will look like:Contract administration and management - proposal writing, assembly of bid packages, revising other documents, notices and submittals, while allowing for changes/variations.Commercial management of work packages; input on commercial risk managementCost and project management - develop cost control processes aligning with the budget. Prepare forecasts and cash flows for strategic decision making support as well as value reporting to the customer.Collaborate with technical and commercial project management teams as well as engineering and planning functionsRecommend risk management strategies to optimize project outcomes.Maintain auditable records in conjunction with target cost contract requirementProvide support and advice to project management team on matters such as contract compliance, contract awareness, change management, claims variations, legal and financial matters - collaborating closely where necessary with other internal specialist advisorsTo thrive in this role, you have:BS Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent with validated commercial management experience. Chartered status with RICS or other recognized chartered bodies is desirable.Consistent track record (10+ years) in a high value position in a contract management environment - ideally gained in a similar or related industry (rail, aerospace, defense, construction, IT, etc.), specifically on projects valued at $500M+Excellent negotiation skills, coupled with practical experience and an in-depth understanding of the best ways in which to improve the mutual benefits to be gained from the effective and commercial interpretation of contractsCustomer facing skills - validated active involvement as a team member in high-value, sophisticated bid teams, ideally with experience of proposal and tender writingUnderstanding of the technical, contractual, and financial requirements of the commercial management role and their inter-relationshipExperience of working in a matrixed and project working environmentGood financial and commercial competence

The base salary range for this position in Las Vegas, NV is $146,400 - $198,000 and the annual incentive target is 15% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
