Lead Product Development Engineer, Design, Air MI

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As the Lead Product Development Engineer, you will be the technical leader for a team of Design Engineers and report to the Director, Product Development Engineering, Design. You will work multi-functionally with Project Management, Materials, Product Engineering, Equipment Controls and Safety, Operations, Maintenance, and Quality Teams. In addition, you will influence Air MI leaders to drive projects and inform future strategies.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

As a Lead Design Engineer, you will join a team of engineers responsible for commercializing and manufacturing Nike Air products. This role works cross functionally on a wide variety of projects from developing new products, processes, and materials to improving manufacturing efficiencies on our existing product portfolio.

You will perform various engineering functions requiring knowledge in project management, product development (process, tool design, materials) and machine safety. A requirement for this position is a demonstrated ability to lead others in your area of expertise.

What You Bring:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or other manufacturing related degree or combination of relevant education, experience, and trainingMinimum 6 years of related manufacturing experience within a high-volume manufacturing production environmentProficiency using CAD for complex product and tooling design. NX experience is preferable.Experience using PDM software and in depth understanding of revision control. Teamcenter experience is preferable.Experience with programming languages for scripting and developing applications for NX Open APIValidated project management skillsGreat teamwork and communication skills with ability to work with associates of all levelsProven ability to lead and mentor others within area of expertiseExperience with Six Sigma Tools and Lean Manufacturing methods is preferredExperience with industrial equipment safety is preferredA demonstrated understanding of fabrication and tolerancing for both machined and additive tooling.


 

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

This Lead Design Engineer role will perform the following responsibilities:

Lead Part and tooling design for new product developmentLead tooling related changes for continuous improvement to increase operational efficiencies  Drive computational design best practicesCreating and improving design and tooling operational excellence.Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure tasks and projects are aligned and communicated.Support the development of new air productsSupport daily manufacturing operationsSolve problems using limited information and to implement solutions while foreseeing future implications.Contribute to documenting and maintaining standard work instructions for the design team.Provide direction and mentorship to your functional teammates while also communicating clearly to a broader audience.Use a collaborative approach that resolves tough organizational issues and disagreements.
