PERINATAL PROGRAMS - Part Time Day

Responsibilities at Good Samaritan Hospital and Bethesda North Hospital

Job Overview:

Coordinates onsite educational programming and tours for maternity patients and their families at GSH and BN hospitals. Works collaboratively with the Women's Health Service Line to define educational needs to assure a family-centered, comprehensive perinatal education program for the population served. Responsible for program schedules, classroom scheduling, and providing qualified staffing. Benchmarks program offerings with like health care systems to assure best in class services. Assures adherence to national standards. Keeps up to date with the evolving needs of the population and refines programs as needed. Observes outsourced programing for quality of service and patient experience. Reviews patient satisfaction survey responses and incorporates feedback into improvements to the program offerings. Position requires flexibility to cover evenings and weekend hours as needed to meet the needs of the department and population served. 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) 
Registered Nurse
Advanced level knowledge of obstetrics 
Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles
Up to 1 year nursing staff educator 
Participation in national professional organization encouraged
3-4 years experience Clinical in Nursing practice in an acute or related specialty field
2-3 years experience orienting/precepting newly hired nurses, guest lecturing, and providing unit in-services

Job Responsibilities:

Assures the delivery of family-centered, comprehensive maternity education programs to TriHealth. Provides orientation to maternity unit staff. Disseminates current evidence-based nursing/healthcare information. Fosters initiative and teamwork andmaintains high tandards in programs offered. 
Acts as a clinical and administrative resource for perinatal educators. Plans, organizes, schedules and evaluates perinatal program offerings. Collaborates with maternity unit team members, physicians and other members of the health team. 
Ensures customer satisfaction with course content and delivery of the information through gathering satisfaction data and incorporating into programs offered. Works with Perinatal Educators making updates to classes and tours.. Demonstrates and encourages staff in identifying opportunities for improvement. Ensures service recovery is proactive rather than reactive. 
Assists in the overall responsibility to recruit and retain qualified staff educators to include participating in team interviews, coordinating onboarding, and provides coaching to improve work performance, Creates a supportive work environment that is conducive to teamwork and staff retention. 
Benchmarks program offerings to similar health care systems. Revises programs and audiovisual materials and methods as needed.
Maintains ongoing professional development through continuing and formal education, specialty certification, professional organization membership.
