Payroll Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our organization. This role requires a keen understanding of government regulations and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance. The ideal candidate will lead our payroll team, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow and excellent service delivery.
Responsibilities
+ Supervise and manage the payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with all government regulations.
+ Provide advice, coordination, and workflow management to the payroll team.
+ Manage union payroll processing and employee payroll master data, ensuring accurate classification and accounting of employee earnings.
+ Determine appropriate tax jurisdictions and document deductions in accordance with federal and state laws and collective bargaining agreements.
+ Update system data as needed and enter accurate HR information into the payroll system.
+ Analyze timecard data and input it into the computerized payroll system.
+ Maintain confidentiality of all company, employee, and customer data.
+ Process payroll accurately and submit files to the bank promptly, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
+ Scan, archive, or file payroll-related documents following approved policies.
+ Respond to management and employee inquiries accurately and timely.
+ Investigate complex problems and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Lead initiatives for productivity and service-level improvements.
+ Follow procedures related to employee terminations, leaves of absence, and status changes.
+ Update collective bargaining agreements and maintain current rates in the payroll software.
+ Track and submit certified reports for prevailing wage job compliance.
+ Audit and submit assigned monthly union reports and coordinate audit requests.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in payroll processing, union payroll, certified payroll, and multi-state payroll.
+ Proficiency in Excel and payroll software, preferably eCMS.
+ Associate degree in business administration, accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
+ Minimum 5-7 years of payroll processing experience.
+ Experience with multistate withholding, union reporting, and prevailing wage laws.
+ Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
+ High level of integrity, dependability, and professionalism.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree and Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
+ Knowledge of the construction industry is a plus.
+ Minimum 1 year of experience directly managing people preferred.
+ Experience working with confidential information.
+ High quality documentation and report preparation skills.
+ Effective collaboration, organizational, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
+ Strong leadership, coaching, training, and mentoring skills.
+ Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with all levels, including senior management.
Work Environment
The role requires working in the office from Monday to Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fenton, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $69.47/hr.
