The Lead Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and oversees the duties of the production shift line, including accountability for a specific portion of the operations function. They are responsible for managing labor on the shift, monitoring Machine Operator performance, handling assigned reports, monitoring downtime, and ensuring shift issues are addressed promptly.
The Lead Operator is committed to maintaining high safety standards and ensuring quality control throughout the production process. They actively participate in problem-solving, engage with associates, and address issues on the line to promote a safe and efficient work environment. Additionally, they must be capable of performing all machine operator duties as required.
+ Maintain labor utilization above minimum expected level and “no operator” downtime below maximum expected level.
+ Track the performance of plant labors within shift.
+ Ensure that all Operators are trained and have current training records
+ Coordinates work assignments within the production department that includes training, technical support and/or process/trouble shooting support.
+ Works with internal resources to resolve problems.
+ Ensures adherence to department policies, procedures, regulatory compliance, and environmental health and safety requirements.
+ Provides input into procedures as required.
+ Interfaces and coordinates with support departments.
+ Assists employees in resolving conflicts.
+ Responsible for the paperwork to start up and shut down their line or area
+ Coordinate break schedules and assist with machine operation during breaks

+ High School Diploma or equivalent
+ Must be able to read, write, perform the four basic math functions, and be physically able to perform the essential duties
+ 1-3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
+ Must have a basic knowledge of 5S
+ Adherence to strict safety policies
+ Adherence to the highest quality standards
+ Ability to troubleshoot equipment, raw material & process deficiencies
+ Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all levels of the organization
+ Must have the ability to recognize and prioritize various tasks/projects at the same time
+ Must be able to work 8 to 12 hours on his/her feet, lift 50 lbs. on a repeated basis and climb safety ladders when necessary to complete various tasks within the position
+ Must work well with other team members on a team and other teams
