Department Summary:
The team seeks a full-time Lead Network Engineer to support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of IT systems in Classified lab environment. This is a role best suited for someone who has prior experience working as a classified Network Engineer . This is an on-premises position on our McLean Va campus.
Roles and Responsibilities:
MITRE’s Classified Infrastructure Services team (Special Programs) is looking for a Lead Network Engineer role that will be supporting many classified infrastructures as well as standalone environments. This role will require knowledge of implementing and maintaining NIST 800-53 Security Controls / RMF compliance in each environment along with additional security lockdowns if required and ensure the accreditation is enforced and in compliance in all environments. Provide guidance for hardware/software purchases when requested. Work with project leads to ensure their environment compliant and meeting the requirements of the end-users.The successful candidate will, in addition to providing top level technical support and vision, provide task leadership for a small team that supports both the infrastructures and manages end user issues.Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Active a DoD TS/SCI with CI PolyFamiliarity with managing a Windows supporting services environment, including WSUS, Network Policy Server, Certificate ServiceFamiliarity with scripting and automation tools, including batch scripts, PowerShell, automation with PDQ Inventory/Deploy, Ansible, Chef, or other similar toolsExperience with STIGs and system hardening through Group Policy and/or automationExperience with VMware vCenter/vSphere, and VDI implementations using VMware HorizonExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communications skillsDemonstrated ability to develop effective technical and support documentation to include design & test plans, implementation plans, and automation plans using standard templates (where existing) or proposing & creating new templates where neededAbility to review operational metrics and make analytic decisions/recommendations about operational infrastructure performanceDeploy all hardware/software configurations following established standards in an automatable and auditable method.This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.Preferred Qualifications:
