**Job Description Summary**
The Lead Materials Applications Engineer is responsible for materials and process concerns across the lifecycle of their assigned hardware. This includes supporting new product introduction(NPI), Manufacturing support, and Field support. NPI support includes materials and process definition throughout the NPI process. Manufacturing support includes review and approval of significant process changes, disposition of nonconformances and cost reductions. Field Support includes destructive analysis of manufactured, engine tested and fielded hardware to enable product improvements. MAEs partner with product line focals, design engineering, quality, and supply chain to ensure product conformance to technical requirements leading to hardware safety and durability. This role will have a focus on failure analysis to HPT hardware.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Perform metallurgical evaluations of engine run hardware and manufacturing issues. Document and communicate investigation results through technical reports and presentations
+ Own fielded hardware evaluations with input from other MAE’s on the team.
+ Author standard work for Airfoils lab procedures.
+ Understand and apply technical requirements from specifications and engineering drawings
+ Evaluate impacts to material characteristics for initial part qualifications, subsequent process changes and repairs
+ Research component history and material properties to apply lessons learned from field experience, manufacturing evolutions, and development programs.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry from an accredited college or university
+ A minimum of 2 years related engineering experience
**Desired Characteristics**
+ B.S, M.S. degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgy from an accredited college or university
+ Familiarity or research in the following competencies:
+ Nickel/cobalt base superalloys, Ceramic coatings
+ Processes (e.g. casting, forging, heat treating, brazing, welding, coating,)
+ Characterization (Scanning electron microscopy, metallography, hardness, fractography)
+ Experience with manufacturing, quality systems or component field support
+ Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously, strategically prioritize work
+ A self-starter with an eye on problem solving and driving solutions
+ Proven facilitation and collaboration skills in multi-disciplinary teams
+ Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
