DescriptionThe Lead Laundry Worker will assist the supervisor in providing leadership to staff; coordinating work activities, monitoring activities and attendance of staff in accordance with guidelines, and assists with disciplinary problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direction to laundry staff in the absence of a supervisor. Assists in training staff on equipment operation, sorting soiled linens, distributing clean linens, and building exchange linen carts. Operates laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, iron pressing equipment, and other laundry equipment. Fills orders and ensures that linen supplies are available at all times. Inventories linen and counts items on exchange carts returned to laundry from hospital or returned from hospital to laundry. Maintains accurate itemized inventory records and completes laundry forms as necessary. Loads and unloads laundry into washers and dryers as necessary. Uses chemicals as prescribed for cleaning linen items. Cleans, maintains and replenishes linen exchange carts in an orderly manner. Inspects linens for defects such as holes, tears, or worn areas. Removes debris from linen, such as tape, staples and lint. Folds, stacks and may wrap and appropriately label linen items to prepare for distribution to using areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions. Two years of related experience in a hospital environment.
