Overview

A Lead IV Pharm Tech is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of a team of IV Pharmacy Technicians. They ensure the accurate preparation and dispensing of intravenous medications, monitor inventory levels, and maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations and protocols. They may also assist in training new staff members, resolving issues or concerns, and implementing quality improvement initiatives within the IV pharmacy department. 

 

Schdule: 7 am-9 pm 

Responsibilities Participates in orientation, USP 797 training, and competency assessmentProvides support in training new staff members on IV procedures and protocolsMonitors workflow and reassigns IV Pharmacy Technicians as neededPrepares IV Pharmacy Technician schedules to meet the needs of the pharmacyFills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and for delivery, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacyMay perform the following:Works with automated machines for IV admixture medicationsManages inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identify expired medications, managing to the pharmacy standard for Days on HandInputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels (data entry)Mixes/packages IV medications and suppliesDisinfects IV room, equipment, and hood to meet daily and monthly requirements per USP 797Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow) or emergency kitsCommunicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional mannerAssists IV supervisor/manager to ensure all job-related tasks are completed efficiently and effectively

 

 

 

Qualifications HS Diploma or equivalentExperience in an LTC pharmacy settingPrior supervisory experience desiredBasic understanding of drugs, medication terminology, and metric systemAbility to operate a computerWorkflow management, scheduling and performance management skills desired
