Lead Inventory Control Specialist / Central Supply

Turn your passion into purpose and make a difference where it matters most. **A Brief Overview** The Lead Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for inventory management, procurement, and supply chain accuracy. This role establishes and maintains vendor relationships to secure supplies in the right quantities at the best possible value. The specialist ensures accurate records, continuously adjusts par levels, and performs reporting duties to support efficient supply utilization. This position collaborates closely with Value Analysis and Purchasing to improve supply chain performance and ensures accuracy of all patient supply charge items. **Essential Functions** + Orders, receives, and maintains supply inventory, adjusting quantities based on usage requirements and minimum thresholds using appropriate supply chain management techniques. • Communicates effectively with assigned departments/areas to fulfill supply needs. • Reviews orders for completeness, ensuring order acceptance, backorders, and appropriate pricing. • Organizes and allocates storage space for supplies to maximize accessibility and efficiency. • Creates new PAR supply rooms as organizational needs arise. • Maintains current PAR supply rooms and adjusts par quantities as indicated by utilization data. • Processes all department requisitions, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate. + • Verifies stock issued to departments, ensuring all adjustments are completed promptly to maintain an accurate inventory with minimal variance. • Reviews inventory levels for appropriateness of items, attributes (reorder points/reorder quantities), and service levels to minimize stockouts. • Monitors the accuracy of the inventory receiving process, making adjustments as needed within the MMIS to resolve receipt process errors. • Ensures patient supply charges are completed accurately and in a timely manner. + Provides daily work direction and guidance to appropriate department employees. • Identifies opportunities for improvement and make recommendations • Leads the day-to-day operations of this team to ensure all specified tasks/functions are accomplished • Responsible for reviewing work queues and emails to ensure an outstanding patient experience and that they are handled in a timely and efficient manner. • Review of calls to ensure an outstanding customer service experience, timely handling and appropriate policies and processes were followed. • Assists Manager to achieve desired departmental outcomes and assuring performance at or above the established standards: • Assists with the development and implementation of goals, policies, and procedures. • Sets and monitors productivity for each staff member + Works collaboratively with VA/Purchasing and Supply Chain • Communicates with the Supply Chain and Value Analysis team regarding critical supply item shortages, changes in products, deleted products and pricing updates. • Maintains up to date shortage/backorder reporting for CS department staff and MM management team. • Works with VA to identify suitable alternatives for evaluation by MM management team • Provides supply updates on a routine basis and communicates anticipated shortage timelines • Ensures all new products are set up in the MMIS and inventory. • Collaborates with VA/Purchasing to source appropriate product subs. • Supports all product conversion efforts. + Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members by providing an overview of department-specific processes and procedures and shadowing new team members to offer practical insights and hands-on learning experiences. + Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job. + Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section **Education Qualifications** + Must be at least 18 years of age. Required and + High School Diploma or GED Required **Experience Qualifications** + Minimum 2 purchasing/inventory control required, preferably in a healthcare environment. Required and + Knowledge of medical terms or supplies Preferred **Skills and Abilities** + Experience with the supply process and distribution phases of inventory management in a hospital setting. (High proficiency) + Knowledge of computerized inventory management and contract compliance procedures. (High proficiency) + Analytical and negotiating skills (High proficiency) + Mathematical skills necessary for algebraic conversions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. (High proficiency) + Verbal and written communication skills sufficient/necessary to receive and deliver information accurately among Lab and MM staff and others. (High proficiency) + Experience with typing keyboard/computer. (High proficiency) + Ability to prioritize time and tasks according to the needs of patients and the department with minimum supervision and direction.
