Lead HIM Department Clerk
Salary Range: $18.02 - $23.07 Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity. Position Summary: + The Lead reports to the Director of HIM. + Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of HIM. + Perform additional duties as listed below. + Works well under stress or tight deadlines. + Establishes and maintains effective, courteous, and respectful working relationships with patients, families, members of the medical and nursing staff as well as co-workers. District Responsibility: + Supports the District mission and values. + Demonstrates respect, professionalism and courtesy to all patients, visitors, other providers and co-workers, as delineated in the LVMC “Commitment to Care”. + Constantly use C-I-CARE principles when communicating with others. + Participates in performance improvement activities. + Engages in ongoing professional development. Position Duties/Responsibility: + Oversee daily operations, ensuring that tasks like medical record coding, release of information, and documentation compliance are handled promptly and accurately. + Help balance workloads among team members and step in to address bottlenecks. + Monitor daily operations- Oversee department is meeting regulations, standards and facility policies and report to Director. + Acts as a go-to resource for coders, clerks, and other HIM staff. + Help onboard new hires and provide ongoing training or mentorship. + Help facilitate communication amongst the team and streamline workflows. Position Qualifications: + Minimum of 5 years HIM experience. + Certifications: RHIT Preferred. + Skills/Ability: + Strong communication skills. + Knowledge of state and federal regulations. + Safety requirements. + Quality improvement principles. + Maintain records in an organized manner. + Maintain the department's CMS and California state accreditation. + Establishes and maintains effective, positive working relations with departmental employees, hospital staff, medical staff and patients. + Assures safe practices and techniques are used in the department. + Communicates policies to hospital and dietary employees. + LVMC reserves the right to modify the minimum requirements depending on the needs of the organization.
