Job Summary:
KBR is seeking a highly motivated self-starter, adaptable to a fast-paced exciting environment as a Flight Test Engineer, to support the airborne system testing and reporting for the Navy’s Advanced Sensor Technologies Program Office (AST PO) program in Dallas, TX. The successful candidate will provide qualified Flight Test Engineering support as well as P-8A Project Specialist (PS) aircrew support during airborne test and evaluation AST systems. The work is primarily conducted in customer, contractor, and KBR facilities in the DFW area, but approximately 25% travel is required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide expert assistance to the AST throughout the Operational Testing (OT) process to include: Serve as a value-added participant in all OT planning and progress meetings, providing the Government with recommendations for improvement to the processes. Prepare independent assessments and analysis of OT progress for each major testing event, highlighting the deficiencies and the operational impacts discovered during OT. Provide mitigation strategies as needed. Assist with management of acceptance testing efforts.
Provides timely and accurate test-program status updates.
Participate in Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (System Readiness Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, etc.), program management and Test Readiness Reviews. Participate in technical interchanges in support of T&E objectives. Review of the technical aspects of proposals that pertain to T&E missions. The review provides a thorough crosswalk between contract requirements and the Prime Contractor's proposal to determine whether the proposal is adequate.
Manage and verify the Prime's performance to the contract's specifications and requirements, and determining success in meeting system level T&E deliverables. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Produce and/or review DoD acquisition T&E products such as the Cost and Requirements Document, Capabilities Production Document, Capabilities Development Document, Test and Evaluation Master Plan, etc.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation engineering, operation, or test/evaluation.
Must have completed a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) within the past six (6) years or currently enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation (CE) Program.
The ability to maintain physical standards for flight status including a Class 2 FAA Medical Certification and Navy Swim/Physiology training is required.
Proficiency with Unix/Linux.
Proficiency with shell scripting languages (ex. Bash).
Working knowledge of computer networking concepts and technologies.
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, math, physics, or other technical discipline.
Previous or current aircrew qualification in P-3C or P-8A.
Experience with AST sensor systems.
Test experience in P-3C or P-8A family systems.
The ability to work with integrated test teams comprised of military, civilian and contractor personnel.
The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
CompTIA Security+ Certification.
Experience with the Minotaur Mission System.
Experience with Virtual Machines and/or Containerization.
Recent experience with RDT&E and/or acquisition for advanced military electronics/computer systems.
Advanced Sensor Technologies Program Office experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
