Lead Firmware Engineer

Ecolab is seeking a Lead Firmware Software Engineer to architect, design, and full stack software applications within the IoT domain.  The position is senior level position on the IoT software development team.  The candidate will be part of a dynamic team helping to support a digital transformation of our business by creating IoT applications that deliver new insights to our diverse customer base.  

What You Will Do:

Synthesize business requirements and translate them to appropriate technology solutionsProvide architectural and technical guidance for product development and database design for JavaScript, C/C++, C# and SQL based solutions.Develop and execute software engineering plans, and manage software engineering schedules and resource allocations. This includes managing joint development with 3rd party vendors, and managing outsourced developmentEnsure, and create as needed, software engineering processes, practices and operations to ensure reproducible, high-quality, development, while keeping costs under control, and delivering projects on-time.Monitor technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunitiesThink strategically and balance short-term needs with longer-term business prioritiesChallenge status quo and champion new ideas throughout cross functional organizations; ability to inspire confidence and trust with peers and cross functional business teamsDevelop software, shape architectures, perform designs, and create Proof of Concepts to build applications that drive Ecolab’s dispensing and IoT equipment systemWork with team members to integrate software and hardware developed by other Ecolab divisionsWork with software team members to integrate full stack IoT end node solutionsParticipate in SCRUM/Agile software development processWork with product owners to define and document User Stories including Acceptance CriteriaApply DevOps practices to efficiently work with Ecolab’s multidisciplinary teams

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a technical degree8 or more years working in C or C++ in embedded firmware development5 or more years working in JavaScript and/or C# for UI/HMI developmentExperience in Microcontroller-based/System-On-a-Module (SOM) application developmentDeveloped software projects for at least one of the following Operating System: Linux, MacOS, or WindowsDemonstrated project experience with regard to estimates, planning and deliverables with a high degree of accountabilityExperience leading large scale software developmentProven ability working with business, engineering and R&D teams to translate needs to Application Development teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working with global development teamsExperience in IoT environmentsExcellent communication skillsTeam orientedCandidates who do not require relocation assistanceCandidates who do not require immigration sponsorshipExperience in ARM based microcontrollers, such as Freescale, STMicro STM32, or Silicon Labs EFM.Experience in Modbus RTU/TCPExperience with IoT device development and management, with knowledge in wireless technologies such as BLE, Bluetooth Mesh, LoRaWAN, LTE-M, NB-IoTExperience in supporting Embedded Firmware Platform, Board Support Package developmentExperience in two or more of the following areas: bootstrap loader, embedded file systems, system controls, embedded LinuxDeveloped software projects for at least one of the following database management systems: Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server.Experience with Agile development methodologies

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range

The base salary range for this position is $120,500.00 - $180,700.00. This position is eligible for annual bonus pay based on performance, per plan terms. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
