Lead Engineer - Electrical Engineering
**Job Description Summary** Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.). **Job Description** **KEY TECHNICAL AREAS** **1. Power System Studies – Steady State** + Load Flow. + Short Circuit. + Unit Interaction Factor. + Multi Infeed Interaction Factor. + Arc Flash. **2. Power System Studies – Dynamics RMS** + Transient Stability. + Fundamental Frequency Temporary Overvoltage. + Control Interaction. + RMS modelling of Control System. **3. Harmonic Studies** + Harmonic performance; harmonic stability; harmonic filter design. + Power Line Carrier Interference studies and filters. + Harmonic site measurements. **4. Electromagnetic Compatibility Studies** + Radio Frequency Interference and screening. + Electromagnetic Fields. + Substation Electromagnetic Zoning. + EMC compliance and risk assessment of the substation. + Earthing and bonding. **5. Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Studies** + Transient Overvoltage. + Transient Recovery Voltage. + Lightning. + Other EMT studies. **MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES** + Modelling and performing the studies; deliver study reports. + Technical responsibility in areas of expertise. + Provide guidance to peers on areas of expertise. + Customer facing responsibilities. + Processes: develop and industrialise solution tools and processes associated with the engineering activities identified above. Design Guides. + Development: Be actively involved in new developments in HVDC technologies, implementing control and protection solutions and creating / delivering new analysis techniques and system study tools in order to provide optimized system study solutions. + External activities: Represent the business in external events by publishing technical papers or participating in working groups (CIGRE/IEC/IEEE). + Adherence to company policies and Code of Conduct. + Health and Safety: consider Health and Safety preventions, risks, behaviors.
