**What you’ll do:**
The Lead Engineer – Digital Twin will architect, develop, and deploy digital twin solutions for manufacturing plants, focusing on real-time machine state modeling, PHM (Prognostics & Health Management), and deep integration with MES platforms. This role is pivotal in enabling Eaton’s Industry 4.0 vision by creating virtual representations of assets, processes, and systems that drive predictive maintenance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The position requires expertise in digital twin frameworks, MES dataflows, and commercial platforms such as NVIDIA Omniverse, Siemens Xcelerator, PTC ThingWorx, and GE Predix.
"Digital Twin Architecture & Deployment:
Design and implement digital twin models for machines, lines, and plants, focusing on real-time state modeling, asset health, and process optimization.
Develop and maintain machine state models that capture operational parameters, transitions, and failure modes.
Integrate PHM models for predictive diagnostics, maintenance scheduling, and asset lifecycle management.
Lead MES integration, ensuring seamless data acquisition, reporting, and closed-loop control between physical assets and digital twins.
MES & Data Integration:
Architect MES state machines and scenarios to enable real-time monitoring, production scheduling, and resource management.
Ensure robust connectivity between MES, ERP, PLM, and IoT platforms for comprehensive digital thread and traceability.
Collaborate with IT and OT teams to deploy middleware (e.g., Kafka, HiveMQ) for scalable, secure data flows.
PHM & Asset Health:
Develop and deploy PHM models for machines and tools, leveraging AI/ML for fault detection, diagnosis, and prediction.
Implement closed-loop feedback for continuous improvement and reliability enhancement.
Commercial Platform Evaluation & Implementation:
Evaluate and deploy commercial digital twin platforms such as NVIDIA Omniverse (for immersive visualization and collaboration), Siemens Xcelerator (for comprehensive digital twin lifecycle), PTC ThingWorx (for IoT-driven asset management), and GE Predix (for industrial analytics and predictive maintenance).
Lead pilot projects and partnerships with external vendors to accelerate digital twin adoption and value realization.
Continuous Improvement & Best Practices:
Drive standardization of digital twin elements across plants, ensuring scalability and interoperability.
Stay abreast of industry literature and best practices, integrating new methodologies and technologies into Eaton’s digital twin roadmap."
**Qualifications:**
Master’s in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering; specialization in Digital Manufacturing or Data Science preferred.
8+ years in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3 years in digital twin, MES, or PHM projects
**Skills:**
"• Deep understanding of machine state modeling, PHM algorithms, and MES architectures.
• Experience with commercial digital twin platforms (Omniverse, Siemens, PTC, GE, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE)
• Proficiency in data integration, middleware, and cloud/edge computing for manufacturing.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Understanding of Industrial IoT (IIoT) and smart manufacturing concepts
• Ability to perform system validation and FAT/SAT testing
• Experience with data acquisition and analytics platforms.
• Proficiency in design and simulation tools
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills"
