We’re seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to join our Travel Things team in Milan, Barcelona preferably, where we have our offices or any location within Italy or Spain(Hybrid) to create a one-stop-shop for our customers, where they can find the best travel options for their needs and experience amazing post-booking service in our best-rated mobile app. In the Travel Things area, our teams are working on our future ancillaries retail platform that will take the customer experience to the next level across new and innovative touchpoints, products and retail.  If you’re ready to soar, we’re ready to take you there.

What you will do: 

The Role’s Key Responsibilities and Tasks

As an eDOer, you will have clear objectives, great challenges and a clear overview of how your work contributes to the global company project and its customers. As a  Lead  Engineer in the eDO Travel Things,  you will be in charge of:

Leading the technical delivery of a critical product at eDreams.

Working with top-notch tech stack including Java 17, ReactJS, GraphQL Kafka, BigTable, Redis, Machine Learning models, Datamesh architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, Sonarqube and Datadog.

Collaborating with Product, Business, Architecture, Data Science to shape the technical strategy and evolution of the Conversion domain, define the technical strategy for your modules and ensure their optimal performance

Helping your team translate functional specifications into high-performance logical technical design and code and split the work into smaller tasks that add quick value to customers

Promoting our standards of technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement 

Leading the team.

Leading a high performing cross functional agile team of 6-9 experienced software engineers and developers

Ensuring the deliveries come home on time by delegating and distributing tasks accordingly, always having clarity about the plan, the status and advancing potential inconvenients

Managing productivity performance, setting goals and prioritising work for your team, balancing the capacity of the team

Taking an active role in finding and hiring the best talent available, in collaboration with our recruiters, and onboard new joiners into our culture of high performance, collaboration and growth

Establish a sense of identity, engagement and belonging in your team, and improve team dynamics – in collaboration with your dedicated agile coach

Act as a mentor, helping others develop their skills and professional career

Key technical skills and knowledge:

Knowledge and experience with coding, OO design, system design, performance tuning, performance engineering, design patterns, data modelling

Code base knowledge

Knowledge and experience with distributed, concurrent and scalable systems

Understanding of the last technologies in the market

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Applied AI Tools: Demonstrated comfort using practical AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Google Gemini, or other AI-powered assistants agreed by eDO (for security reasons).

Experimentation Mindset: Curiosity and eagerness to explore, experiment with, and integrate emerging AI-driven solutions into software development workflows.

AI-Enhanced Problem Solving: Ability to effectively leverage AI tools to debug code, streamline development processes, and enhance productivity.

Adaptability and Learning Agility: Enthusiastic about continuously learning and quickly adapting to new AI features and capabilities.

Collaboration with AI: Experience or interest in collaborating closely with AI tools as “pair programmers” to complement traditional software development practices.
