Lead Email Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Email Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team, supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise messaging solutions. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our Exchange environment, including hybrid configurations with Microsoft 365. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Exchange Server architecture, PowerShell scripting, and email security protocols, along with a strong understanding of compliance and operational best practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient messaging services that support business continuity and enhance user experience across the organization.


In this role, you will:

Lead complex initiatives to develop infrastructure to provide solutions for business applicationsParticipate in various projects intended to continually improve or upgrade the services we support, like Exchange, SMTP Email and others communication related productsReview and analyze high impact outages to ensure the proper processes and procedures are in place to avoid problems in the futureDesign, build, deploy and maintain services we provide through collaborative efforts with the team and third party vendorsDesign, script, test, debug and document using Agile practicesMake decisions in technical designs, implementation plans and identify project risks requirementsCollaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goalsInteract with customer and vendor


Required Qualifications:

5+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education5+ years of direct experience with Microsoft Exchange and engineering a Microsoft Exchange environment5+ years of experience with Active Directory and EntraID5+ years of PowerShell knowledge.


Desired Qualifications:

Large complex system integration experience (Exchange Hybrid), ideally candidate has experience in Financial Institutions with user's basis over 50K+ users3+ years knowledge of MS graph API and OAUTH authenticationsUnderstanding of ​Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)Understanding of the M365 eco-systemStrong understanding of LDAP and creating filters for LDAPGood understanding of Outlook on Windows/MAC/iPhone/Android/W365Design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Exchange Server environments (on-premises and/or hybrid with Exchange Online).Manage mail flow, transport rules, connectors, and anti-spam/anti-malware configurations.Monitor system performance and proactively address issues to ensure optimal uptime.Perform Exchange migrations (e.g., Exchange to Exchange Online, tenant-to-tenant).Maintain and troubleshoot Outlook client connectivity and mobile device integration.Implement and manage email archiving, retention policies, and eDiscovery.Provide Tier 3 support for messaging-related incidents and service requests.Perform root cause analysis and develop permanent solutions for recurring issues.Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.Work closely with security, network, and desktop teams to ensure seamless integration.Participate in cross-functional projects involving messaging and collaboration platforms.Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding system changes, outages, and upgradeStay current with Microsoft Exchange technologies, updates, and best practices.Pursue relevant certifications.Participate in training and knowledge-sharing sessions.
