Role Definition

Participates in defining the Azure Cloud platform design & deployment for Caterpillar’s state-of-the-art Digital platform aligning to common department goals in line with CAT Digital Strategy. Lead Architect will help drive the Azure cloud adoption & assist teams that leverage the Azure cloud to build a world class Digital applications

Responsibilities:

Design & Deliver the Azure cloud platform architecture aligning to the CAT Digital strategyParticipate in defining the security guardrails per Enterprise standardsLead the Design of a scalable & secure Azure environment based on the specific application demandGuide the Build teams to deliver reusable Infrastructure as Code templates for cloud environmentsGuide the Operations team in their Observability & SRE strategiesParticipate & contribute to the CloudOps & FinOps activitiesStay up to date with the latest developments & new features in the Azure Cloud area, evaluate new developments and technologies for potential integration into existing and future architecture.Initiate and deliver technology evaluation and recommendationsDevelop and maintain current, planned, and future state architecture blueprints. Lead in the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers and requirements that drive the future state architecture.

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of complex technical problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.Cloud Architecture: Hands on experience of processes, techniques and factors that affect a world class scalable Cloud Environment architecture; ability to design blueprints on how to introduce new capabilities.Cyber Security: Hands on experience of designing & deploying secure cloud infrastructure including data, network & Identity security design principlesTarget Architecture: Knowledge of target architecture; ability to develop the IT blueprint and roadmap while aligning the architecture and processes with business strategies and objectives.Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

Top Candidates will have:

Four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Computer Science or Information Technology, or related field with 12+ years of experienceAt least 5 years’ cloud native architecture experience in Cloud Technologies in Microsoft AzureMust have demonstrable experience of designing, developing & deploying highly complex distributed systems in Azure cloud & hybrid cloud environmentsExtensive hands on experience in the following areas

Azure Cloud architecture, Azure Identity & Access Management, Azure security architecture, Multi account setup, Azure Functions, Azure Search, ARM Templates, Observability, CloudOps & FinOps

Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect ExpertMicrosoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect ExpertAgile SDLC implementation in public cloud eco-system including environments management, peer review, CI/CD, resource optimization, etc.
