Job Specific Information:
As a Lead Development Engineer, you will be one of the key members in the new Sustaining Engineering team, responsible for coordinating, planning, and performing process maintenance. This includes supporting Production and QC with analyses, evaluations, and assessments of laboratory tests in close collaboration with other functions such as R&D, Product Management and QA. You will be responsible for handling tasks that require quick action as well as more longterm investigations. You will play a driving role in continuous improvement work, collaborating closely with your colleagues to build sustainable and robust processes.
The Engineering department is also responsible for Design Transfer of products in development at R&D to Operations, process development and validation of kit manufacturing processes, global equipment management, and business continuity for operational processes in Uppsala.
The role is based at our headquarters in Uppsala and reports to the Manager of Sustaining Engineering.
Main Responsibilities
Perform root cause analyses and other troubleshooting activities to resolve process- and product-related issues such as NCs, Complaints, and CAPA.
Coordinate activities between different functions to effectively solve quality issues, short and long term.
Develop and implement test plans to investigate or validate acceptance criteria and performance.
Independently perform classical laboratory analyses using established techniques and methods as well as newly developed procedures.
Accurately document and report test results in accordance with internal quality standards.
Initiate and author deviation reports and batch investigations.
Assess and approve or reject test results based on predefined criteria.
Provide technical training and mentorship to colleagues within the team and the wider organization.
Actively contribute to strategic initiatives and drive continuous improvement efforts within the area.
Qualifications and competencies:
MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
5+ years of experience in process or product maintenance and/or quality control within the Life Science sector.
Documented experience in investigations, troubleshooting, and problem solving, with verified results and recommendations.
Strong laboratory skills with documented hands-on experience in analytical and experimental work.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with a broad range of techniques such as HPLC, MS, MALS and spectrophotometry methods and the ability to interpret data.
Full professional proficiency in English and Swedish.
