The Lead Cytotechnologist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
Assist management in the organization and direction of day-to-day activitiesTrains and mentors cytotechnologists and staff, including performing 100% quality control rescreen of all new hire cytotechnologists, computer education, and review of all policy and proceduresParticipates and assists in a wide range of problem solving activities relating to diagnosis, administrative, information technology and customer serviceParticipate in and assist with quality control and quality assurance programsPerform FNA training and annual competency assessment reviews for all cytotechnologistsComplete colleague competency assessmentsOrganize department workflow; review and maintain all pending lists and work lists, assist with bench assignmentsAct as a department resource in the absence of the department supervisorPerform routine Cytology screening on gynecologic, non-gynecologic and FNA specimens submitted for evaluationMaintain diagnostic screening percentages at CAP standard averages, including ASCUS rate and ASC:SIL ratioComplete all competency assessments in a timely mannerQualifications
Required:
Minimum 3 years’ experienceBachelor’s degree as a Medical Technologist, Medical Lab Tech, Clinical Lab Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health with a Cytotechnologist (CT) (ASCP) Certification. Must provide proof of Education as stated in the CLIA guidelines.Individual must meet requirements for performing high complexity testing as defined by federal licensing guidelines (CLIA) and accreditation agencies (TJC,CAP).Equal Opportunity
