**Description:**
GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
Committed to the healing of body, mind, and spirit, the social worker conducts psychosocial assessments, provides education and therapeutic interventions for patients, and families as appropriate to achieve an optimal level of care. Additionally, the Social Services Team Lead will oversee the clinical functions and participate in the administrative responsibilities of inpatient Social Services. Works to develop and promote the programs and objectives of the department.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Licensed as one of the following in the state where practicing:
a. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
b. Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
c. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
d. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
e. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
2. Five years post-graduate degree experience in a related mental health setting or hospital preferred.
3. Supervisory experience preferred.
4. Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Know, understand, incorporate, and demonstrate the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
2. Demonstrate knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups. (Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric, as applicable)
3. Assess patient’s treatment needs and provides appropriate interventions, including but not limited to the following:
a. group and family therapy
b. risk assessment
c. case management with community providers
d. facilitating and documenting a viable discharge plan
4. Complete psychosocial assessment and consult with physicians and hospital staff regarding patient and family psychological issues through formal and/or informal multidisciplinary conferences and treatment planning. May be called to facilitate the Treatment Planning process.
5. Work cooperatively with immediate team and other hospital caregivers to meet the emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of patients and/or their family/caregivers.
6. Complete clinical documentation in required timeframe and within set standards.
7. Provide clinical supervision of inpatient counselors and recreation therapy.
8. Facilitate staff meetings.
9. Promote and maintains a supportive and collaborative working environment.
10. Communicate and collaborate with Manager regarding issues and concerns.
11. Assist with HR functions (including staff evaluations) as needed.
12. Manage staff scheduling and coverage.
13. Mentor students during internships.
